HT Vista Scanning For Dogs
We are happy to introduce a new cancer screening device! This cutting-edge technology is a non-invasive way to detect cancer within a skin mass. Please continue reading to learn more on how it works and the parameters of the device!
How it works?
The device uses heat diffusion imaging (HDI) to gently heat the mass to 42 degrees Fahrenheit, then while cooling, the device monitors the thermal response of the tissue. Healthy skin retains heat differently from unhealthy skin due to multiple variations. This retention of heat is what generates an HDI score from 1-10, as shown below.
The percentages suggest the probability the mass is benign. For example, a score of 3 means the mass has a 73% chance of being benign. A low score does not always mean the lump is malignant, it just means we would recommend further diagnostics.
What can the device scan and not scan?
This device works on most lumps or bumps you see or feel on your dog. Unfortunately, due to the technology of this device, it does not work on feet, eyes, testicles, ulcerated (open) masses, mammary tissue or lymph nodes. It does have to be at least 0.5cm in size as well. If there is any question on if the scan would work on your pet, you can call us to schedule a consult!
